Pawel Kuczynski is a Polish contemporary
artist. His artwork captures real life issues in a
mocking manner. His works lead us to consider the consequences that our actions lead to and the credibility we
give to political decisions. Kuczynski uses his art to transfer ideas to the public. Kuczynski’s
works are very powerful in the messages they convey and they force viewers to
face some of the world’s harsh realities. Some of the topics he addresses are
war, political manipulation, economic inequality and environmental damage. He
uses simple shades and pastel colors to create his artwork. I am a very big fan
of art that holds true meaning, even if it doesn’t quickly jump out at you. I
like his use of shading and colors. His backgrounds are very simple,
allowing for our eyes to be drawn into the important aspect of his art and
what it portrays. Personally, the first two pictures posted go hand and
hand. Kuczynski asserts that war depletes humanity. It is interesting how he depicts the cost of war. The woman is
hanging a dollar out to dry, as someone would do with a towel. Shaking it out,
supplies for war are falling from beneath. This shows where the money the
government takes from us is going. The other picture shows a mother and son
grieving the loss of someone apart of their lives that served for his country.
These two works of art bring our attention to the underlying truth of war. Many
people don’t understand what’s going on “behind the scenes” when there is war
and how, although it isn’t taking place in our country, we are still greatly
effected by it in many different ways, such as emotionally and economically.
